Kiln Rules:

Please read carefully before booking

  • Internal dimension of the kiln: 40cm wide and 45cm deep. Kiln shelves are circular, 35cm diameter wide.

  • Clay/ bisqueware/glaze temperature specifications must be shown before firings to ensure the right clay is being fired at the right temperature

  • Firings will be done based on cone temperature. If you are unsure about what Cone you need please refer to this conversion chart https://www.hot-clay.com/media/wysiwyg/CMS-PDFs/Firing_Chart_with_Cone_Equivalents.pdf

  • I fire to Cones 7 & 07- If you need another temperature you will need to hire the whole kiln.

  • Any glaze tests or external glazes should be placed on a bisc or bone dry tile

  • If not hiring the whole kiln you will have to wait until I have enough work to fill the kiln.

  • Please allow up to 48 hours for kiln to fire and cool down. Pick up of work to be made shortly after kiln has cooled.

  • All pieces are fired at your own risk. Romud Ceramics can not be held accountable for items that are damaged during unpacking loading, firing, unloading or storage. Items will be unloaded and loaded onto a shelf. It will be up to you to pack up your work. I will only store your work for up to a week if just a few pieces. Full kiln loads must be collected as soon as the kiln has been unpacked.

  • Please be careful about pot bottoms or runny glazes. If you ruin a shelf you will be charged £75 to replace (as this is what it costs to replace). If you are unsure about a glaze and how it will react/run I will test it for you free of charge (this must be done prior to a firing on your final piece- small test pieces only please)
